Job Description
A Leading Kuwaiti Real Estate Company is looking for Business Development Manager - Foreign Markets with the following description:

The Position:

The Real Estate Company is seeking a qualified dynamic candidate who will be responsible for the post of Business Development Manager-Foreign Markets.

Your responsibilities would be strategic business planning and market analysis, growth strategy and upcoming business potential within the framework of the Company’s work plan and investment directions for the short & long runs. You would also be responsible to work on sourcing new brand opportunities in terms of expansion, acquisition and franchisee agreements with various retail groups and brands in the GCC, Middle Eastern region, and internationally.

This is in order of effectively ensure reaching the optimum tenant mix in leasing various retail developments within company portfolio to guarantee the maximum expenditure per footfall and the successful launching and positioning of the malls. You will be reporting directly to the Executive Manager of the Real Estate Company.

Job Description:

The key responsibilities will include the following but will not be limited to the below mentioned job responsibilities and profile:

o Source new brands, by analyzing on a regular basis the potential for the company to introduce existing or new brands both within the internal markets and franchisee territories to our retail development portfolio.
o Explore opportunities for new brands with potential for future leasing within our retail development portfolio.
o Identify international groups and brands seeking business expansion within Kuwait.
o Study international groups or brands for potential of brand expansions and establishing new franchisee opportunities.
o Study local markets for potential of brand expansion.
o Develop key business partnerships with non competitive business partners for mutual business benefits.
o Study the potential for new business opportunities for the company to explore and grow.
o Review market scenario for Kuwait market and various business implications and recommend suitable plan of action.
o Develop long term strategic planning for expansion and growth with various groups and brands.
o Regularly attend business fairs and shows to understand market trends, sources new brands and promote the company.
o Explore opportunities of positive contributions to the society.
o Explore opportunities for being associated with major events in the region.
o Conduct market research to determine market requirements for existing and future retail developments.
o Monitor and analyze of customer research, current market conditions, competition information and overall business environment.
o Liaise with the marketing manager to develop marketing campaign of the various retail developments.
o Liaise with the leasing team to ensure GLA within the various malls are booked and contractual agreements are signed.
o Prepare presentations (to clients / management / internal division).

The KPI’s will include but not be limited to the following:

o Successful implementation of sourced brands.
o Contractual agreements signed from newly sourced brands.
o Implementation of new strategic ideas.
o Regular reports, analysis, ideas and strategies.
o Success achieved from trade fairs and exhibitions.
o Success with Franchisee partners.
o New groups and brands explored.
o New partnerships established.

Core Competencies Required:

o A degree in business management or equivalent. MBA would be an asset
o Total experience of a minimum of 5-7 years in the retailing industry. Experience in a managerial post would be an asset.
o Should have worked for a high performance driven organization.
o Should be self driven to achieve desired objectives of the business.
o Proven previous experience in the field of Business Development in multi unit franchisee environment in the Middle East region, Brand procurement and retail business expansions.
o Proven experience in developing business strategies for leasing retail space and attracting retail groups.
o Should have good multitasking abilities with a flair and passion for business analysis.
o Should have very strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills (Excellent English written and oral is a must, preferable bilingual).
o Very proficient with MS Office.
o Knowledge of Kuwaiti market will be preferred.
o Should be someone with the latest awareness of world trends both in an economic, fashion/retail trends and market situations.
