Job Description
A leading Insurance Company is looking for Deputy Manager as per the following details:
Job Purpose:

• To provide leadership, support and guidance to the underwriting, technical production and reinsurance operations in compliance with the goals, objectives and standards as set by the department manager; And to assume responsibility of the department in the absence of the department manager.
• To uphold the company’s policies and conform with the department work instructions.

Primary duties performed:

• Manages the daily underwriting, technical production and reinsurance operations within the limits and guidelines set by the department manager and the company.
• Monitors the performance of the department and provides periodical operational reports to the department manager
• Assists in negotiating and implementing the reinsurance treaties.
• Ensures the correct application of underwriting techniques and practices as set by the department manager.
• Assists in projects involving product development and ensures proper implementation.
• Reports on requirements needed for staff development to line-manager
• Execute the operational enhancements set by the manager to increase work efficiency
• Ensures thorough communication and coordination with all relevant departments and external entities to satisfy all departmental tasks effectively.
• Maintains and develops relationships with key partners including reinsurers, actuaries, brokers, and major customers.
• Copes effectively with workload and deadlines by setting plans, prioritizing, and efficiently using resources.
• Assists in any other capacity as required by the management.
Qualification and experience required:

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business, Finance or Mathematics.
• Five or more years of related work experience including group, individual and unit-linked life insurance.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft office suite.
• Good computing knowledge including management and utilization of IT systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Good leadership and management skills.
• Good negotiation skills.
• Basic knowledge of underwriting philosophy and risk pool management.
• A continuous learner who encourages others to learn.
